Wednesday

Here we are at the middle of the week once again. Time flies when you're busy. Before I turn around it will be September. Then the routines will once again change as students prepare to head back to school for another year.

This hot, humid weather got me to thinking about marching band practice. I remember when I was in high school these 100-degree plus days were the norm, especially during the few weeks leading up to the start of school. There were more days than I care to remember that we were out on the field in the sweltering heat marching for hours on end, this was before everyone had to carry a water bottle around with them everywhere. We sure were tough! We never did lose anyone to the heat, we were probably just darn lucky, but still. My things have changed. Now there are heat advisories, severe weather advisories and air quality warnings that stress that we should all stay inside.

Walter has found a couple of gun cabinets that he is checking out for purchase, but has been given a key piece of information that is going to truly help his search. Walmart begins carrying gun cabinets in the fall before hunting season. This will be great. It'll keep him from having to travel out of town to purchase one. The one's that he has found are in northern Virginia and it was looking like there was a road trip in the near future to check them out. But now, I think that he's just going to wait until fall.

Sean is beginning the process of getting ready to head by to school. He's been getting his school supplies gathered together for the new year and has even done some school clothes shopping.

Mom called this evening - she's been feeling under the weather for the past couple of days. I hope that the yuckiness passes quickly for her. With her recovery from her surgery, she deserves to feel great. She also updated me on Aunt Jo. It seems that the cauterization was postponed and will be attempted in on Thursday. Continued prayers for her quick recovery.

Gate Boarding

At the airport for a business trip, I settled down to wait for the boarding announcement at Gate 35. Then I heard the voice on the public address system saying, "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Delta Flight 570 will board from Gate 41."

So my family picked up our luggage and carried it over to Gate 41. Not ten minutes later the public address voice told us that Flight 570 would in fact be boarding from Gate 35.

So, again, we gathered our carry-on luggage and returned to the original gate. Just as we were settling down, the public address voice spoke again: "Thank you for participating in Delta's physical fitness program".
