Sitting out in the backyard this afternoon I noticed this fellow buzzing around the early daylillys. This particular bee does not look like any of the honey bees that I have photographed before.
Here he looks like he is getting ready to dig in for a big meal at the base of the daylilly.
...and here he is all dug in, I suppose that this type of bee draws the nectar out of the base of the blossom instead of using the pollen they accumulate to make honey.
