Thursday

The little girl is doing alright so far with the family. She had to get up in the night and be put to sleep like a little child. After we got her back to sleep I put her back to bed with Sean.

Dean & I had a teacher's meeting this morning, so he has taken the day off to work on his assignments for tonights class. It worked out well. Sean started to take a migraine, but had run out of his medication at school, so we brought him home long enough to get it under control [about an hour] and he went back in to finish the day.

I've had both the girls out on the deck and in the yard for a while. It gave Lilly an opportunity to get tired again - so now she is down for another nap. She may actually get on some kind of "baby" schedule. The only thing that I've noticed that Carla really doesn't like is when Lilly tries to get in between she and I when I am petting her. Otherwise there doesn't seem to be any trouble between them. The puppy is trying to "play" with Carla, by jumping at her tail and side - Carla isn't very interested in the activity, but Lilly sure is.

They had some fun this after on the deck. Lilly was chasing a couple of leaves around and pouncing on them like a kitten. We found one of Carla's old toys that she never played with and Lilly loves it. She was shaking it all around and trying to beat it up.

Walter stopped to visit this afternoon before class. He was checking out the new addition and she fell asleep in his lap. It was funny to see him petting the puppy with one hand and Carla with the other. He couldn't show favoritism towards one or the other.

After he has a test in class this evening, he'll be heading home to pack and bring his laundry over. He's going to be heading over to spend the night with us so that he can have his car all packed up and ready to leave out early in the morning for his weekend camping trip. He'll be spending the day tomorrow cutting wood and setting up camp. As a bonus he will have clean laundry for the coming week.

We get to babysit the boys for him, they will need to be fed over the weekend. They will be fine until Saturday. Which is going to be a busy day for us, but it won't be out of the way for us to run by and take care of this little thing for him.

Tonight Dean has gone off to class and Sean & I are going to take the dogs out to the baseball field to see Andrew play a game this evening. This will give Mom & Dad the opportunity to meet Miss Lilly.

Technology

When a customer left his cell phone in my store, I scrolled through his saved numbers, stopped at "Mom" and pushed send. His mother answered, and I told her what happened.

"Don't worry," she said, "I'll take care of it."

A few minutes later, the cell phone rang. It was "Mom."

"Martin," she said, "you left your cell phone at the convenience store."
Sports Injury

Giving a man his physical, a doctor noticed several dark, ugly bruises on his shins, so he asked,

"Do you play hockey?" "No"

"Do you play soccer?" "No"

"Do you play any other physical sport?" "Not at all. I just play bridge with my wife."

SERMON

A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon. Four worms were placed into four separate jars.

  • The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.
  • The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.
  • The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.
  • The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil.
At the conclusion of the sermon, the Minister reported the following results:

So the Minister asked the congregation - What can you learn from this demonstration?

Maxine was setting in the back, quickly raised her hand and said, "As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!"
