Wednesday

Morning All! Hope that ya'll are able to enjoy the wonderful weather that we are having here right now. The temperature is delightful with a slight chill. I could sit on the patio for hours just enjoying the stillness, listening to the birds singing at the edge of the woods. Perhaps it will be this nice on Saturday. I can hope, but then again the weather report for isn't looking that good. The extended forecast is for Saturday is partly cloudy, but it is preceded by two days of thunderstorms and followed by two days of thunderstorms. So, we'll see.

Oh WOW, what an eventful day. The major over-riding adventure was getting a delivery from DHL. It was amazing - a package was supposed to be delivered on Monday, but wasn't actually delivered until today. It seems that someone, pretended to sign for the package on Monday, so it showed up in the system as delivered; but then there was an "attempted" delivery on Tuesday - during office hours; and then this morning I found out that they still had the package at the distribution center. We FINALLY received the package this afternoon after 3 p.m. Very late but here.

We got in draft copies of the book I've been working on for the office today. Now it's time to go through it and find out those boo-boo's that we missed on the first 10 or 12 edits and see if there are any areas that need snazzing up.

I ran out to the store this evening with Walt, on the way I took a shot at calling Danielle and succeeded! What a great treat! She filled me in on her classes which start on Monday. She's taking her classes in the evening while Ben has his during the day. Which will really work out well with Miss Faith.

I had the extra special opportunity to talk with Miss Faith. She wasn't saying very much but she did giggle when I asked her about her bear and books.

New Sign of a Stroke -- Stick out Your Tongue

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters.. S.T.R.

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm , Ingrid passed away). She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die.

They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR. Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify.

Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.
T * Ask the person to TALK, to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE(Coherently) (i.e. It is sunny out today).
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
