Hot, Humid & Hazy Thursday

We are dealing with almost an identical weather forecast today as yesterday: Widespread haze before 9am. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 100. Heat index values as high as 110. West wind between 5 and 7 mph. Hazy is right the minute you walk out the door your feel as if you are walking into a locker room that has no ventilation and everyone has just taken long hot showers. YUCK! And...we are still under the same three other weather advisories as yesterday: 1) Excessive Heat Warning; 2) Excessive Heat Watch; and 3) Hazardous Weather Outlook. Plus there isn't any rain or thunderstorms on the horizon until late maybe Friday or Saturday.

Even though somethings just can not be put off any longer:
  • laundry - as hot as it is I hate adding the extra heat into the air, but it just can't be helped.
  • cleaning the microwave & refrigerator.
Grocery shopping is tomorrow and I want a place to put all the new groceries. On the plus side I get to have the fridge door open - not exactly a "hot" job.

The sun was hidden behind the trees here for just a little while - so I popped out of the house like a ground hog coming out of hole - and took the opportunity to water all of the plants in pots on the deck to keep them from wilting away. By the time I got through the sun was clearing the top of the trees and back into the cool I went.

I worked PhotoShop again this morning and have softened butterfly somewhat, I do believe that it really improved the look. I've got almost all of my chores done. Sean finally brought down his laundry so I'm finishing it up now. He's been in the office all day playing one of his computer games - always on some type of quest.

I had a couple of pieces of bread that I took out and threw out for the birds - there were blue jays, nuthatches, and doves hanging out in the backyard. Later on this afternoon the birdbath in the backyard was hopping with visitors - a couple of robins and a purple finch were cooling off in the triple digit heat (101-degrees).

Tweat has been talking quite a bit during the day today, especially since the sun has passed over the back of the house. Bubba has still been on the kick of trying to splash me with water as he brakes the water with his fins. Carla has settled for being in the house most of the day, without any complaints on her part.

This quote seems to have really fit the mood of the day, as the day has seemed to drag on and on. Quote of the Day: Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine." - Alexander Smith, Scottish poet

SURPRISE! SURPRISE! SURPRISE!

An older woman goes to the gynecologist only to be given the instruction that she is in need of an ultrasound. Being a positive minded individual she, schedules the appointment. When she tells her children that she has an ultrasound scheduled....the first comment is that she could be pregnate! Of course, after having raised all her children she finds this to be a horrible thought. Her husband, then pipes up saying that no it wouldn't be horrible at all. Looking on the bright side, he says that would be great we could get another $2,000 a month in social security! Only a "senior" male could think that this could possibly be good news. To top off this when asked who would raise the child, the husband replied one of our others. We'll have time to get them (meaning the new addtion) straight before passing them off to anyone else.
