Showing Saturday

While messing around on the web this morning I looked up our house listing. This is what they have put online. If you click on the image it will enlarge to actual size.

Walter and I are planning on going out to visit the traveling "vampire wagon" to donate blood this morning. It's a good deal, give blood and get a free oil change, with the possibility of winning a set of four new tires over the course of the year. It is a really good promotional event and does give you something else other than knowledge that you are helping out someone by donating the blood. I also just heard on the news that the Richmond Blood Service is running low on certain types of blood, so in addition this will help to bring up their reserves. It was good timing for them and us.

I wasn't able to give blood today, but I did get a t-shirt for trying. My iron levels weren't up to their standard, however, they told me that if I had been in a doctor's office it would have been okay. They just have a higher standard requirement. Walter and his amazing clotting blood was able to give a whole pint this try! and his iron level was 14.5! He has always had high levels of iron. I believe that if we pulled the iron out of his blood, we might have enough to make spare parts for his Volvo.

While Walter was pumping out his pint, I played pass the orange juice to him. He has such a funny time trying to give blood as it tries to clot. They finally figured out how to keep the blood flowing so he was able to finish up his donation rather quickly. He was fine right after his donation and we left right away. He didn't make out too bad, he gave up one pint of blood only to end up with a free oil change and a t-shirt (free clothing!).

This is a picture of the back of the t-shirt (long-sleeved) that we received. I found out why we got them, in addition to the oil change premium - January is it seems is National Blood Donor Month. I think that their little "Blood Drop" fellow is quite handsome, with such fine qualities. Who wouldn't want to be associated with him. Great advertising job.

The whole family is heading out for lunch at Applebee's with Louise, while we are eating Walter's car will be having it's oil changed. Then we will run back and pick up his car to head back home. He's going to take the girls for a while this afternoon while the house is showing and then bring them back out to us later on.

While we were eating lunch Dean saw this really funny advertisement on the side of the A-1 bottle. There are just way too many ways that this can be taken.

Prospective buyers are coming by between 2:15 -3:15 this afternoon, who know, we may have this thing sold before the week is out. We are going to take advantage of the time away to do a couple of drive by viewings of our own. The realtor and his client showed up between 30 & 45 minutes early!! We were in the process of doing the finishing touches on the house before we left, and here they were. Ahhhh!!!!

Thank goodness that Walter had already left with the girls before they arrived. At least one thing had been taken care of with out being pressured to hurry out of the house. Dean had even left a pot of coffee for them, but did get the opportunity to tell them about it. But...they did take one of the brochures that Alice made. Ooooo...Now her work is in the hands of the general public.

The houses that we looked at were okay. The first one off Hull Street didn't look nearly as good as it's photo and description. The second is on a cul-de-sac. What is it with us and cul-de-sacs? We didn't even know that it was on one. It is the house at the end so you drive down the street right into the driveway. We've called our realtor to get an appointment to go over and see it inside. The appeal is it has 2 master bedrooms....

I visited with Miss Deb for a short while this afternoon to catch up on things. She had a surprise to show me. She purchased a 2006 Nissan Altima, after 12 years with her old Nissan it was finally time to trade it in. This one is a really nice pewter color. I can see where she and Alex will get years (maybe 12 or more between the two of them) of use out of it.

Walter is bringing the girls home. They were all napping when I called to let him know that we were home. I bet he had a good time with them. I know that Lilly will have had fun - getting to burn off some of her energy, after she got out of the crate. Walt said that the hardest thing to was to put Lilly back into the crate to come home. She just didn't want to get into it.

Walt's off this evening with the College & Career group from church, I do believe that they were heading out to go bowling tonight. I know that he will be able to have a much more pleasant time with them rather than the ordeal that he had in Staunton. There won't be any reason for them to be asked to leave at all.

Right around dinner time Sean received a phone call (on his cell phone) from one of his friend's mother - this was not a pleasant conversation. She called and cursed him out, the whole time that she was ranting at him, Sean was saying, "Yes, Ma'am." to her the whole time. Dean then called the number back from our home phone to get the scoop on the situation and was promptly cursed out as well. We had a police officer come out just to have a report filed of the situation - Dean could go down to the magistrates office and swear out a complaint, but I don't think that he/we are going to take it that far. At least the situation was documented.

Dean was hanging out on the couch this evening and Lilly took full advantage of the situation and promptly laid in his lap. Dean took her collar off and put on her head where it has remained. She look like such a little "angel" with her "halo" on top of her head I could not resist snapping a picture. She is such a sweetie, and even more so when she is sleeping.
